About Betty Goh
Betty Goh is a Singaporean photographic artist known for her original and unconventional style, which she calls Subconscious. Her work transforms everyday urban scenes into mysterious, introspective compositions, revealing hidden emotions beneath the surface of city life. Through surprising perspectives and abstract layers, her photographs blend light, shadow, reflection, and silhouette into visual poetry.
Born and based in Singapore, Betty is drawn to the tension and beauty of the urban landscape. After years of conforming to societal expectations, she discovered photography as a personal liberation — a way to express the unspoken complexities of modern existence. Her images explore emotions often left unarticulated: loneliness, fear, passion, and internal conflict. Each frame becomes a quiet mirror of her inner world, captured unposed, un-staged, and in a single exposure with minimal editing.
She was the only Singaporean featured in Women Street Photographers, a ground-breaking book curated by Gulnara Samoilova and published by Prestel (New York, 2021), showcasing 100 female street photographers worldwide.
Betty’s solo exhibitions, Subconscious, in Tokyo and Singapore received strong acclaim. Her works have been shown globally — including in Germany, Italy, Ireland, the USA, Hungary, China, Scotland, Australia, and Mexico — and at prestigious venues such as Leica.
She has also spoken at major international festivals and platforms, including the Mexico Street Photo Festival, Dublin Street Photography Festival, Leica, and the Australian Association of Street Photographers. In late 2025, she will present her next solo exhibition at an art gallery in Beijing’s renowned 798 Art Zone.
