Ngee Ann 20th Photographic Exhibition - Singapore
Honoured to be part of Singapore’s 60th Birthday Celebration!
I’m deeply honoured and excited to be invited to exhibit two of my photographs in the upcoming 20th Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2025.
This year’s exhibition holds special significance as it celebrates Singapore’s 60th birthday and six decades of nation-building. I grew up during a time when Singapore had just become an independent nation — a developing country that looked very different from the vibrant city we know today. Thanks to the vision of our leaders and the resilience of my parents’ and grandparents’ generation, mine was the generation that helped push Singapore from developing to developed in just a few decades.
Singapore holds a special place in my heart, and I have always loved capturing its ever-changing streets through my lens. That’s why being part of this meaningful national celebration through my art feels incredibly personal and special.
For this exhibition, I chose to showcase two contrasting photos of Singapore:
– One capturing the “older” side of the country, with modern individuals reflecting upon its past
– The other representing the sleek, modern face of Singapore today
The exhibition opens 14 June 2025 at the prestigious LASALLE College of the Arts.
A heartfelt thank you to Ngee Ann Kongsi – a pioneering force in Singapore’s economic success and a long-time supporter of education and the arts – and to Ngee Ann Cultural Centre (@nacc) for the invitation and for making this event possible.
